RAPES IN INDIA: CURSE OR CARELESSNESS
Rapes in India are the most common crimes against women. India has registered 24,923 rapes in the year 2012 itself. Remember that this are the only cases which are registered, the actual figures according to the experts are far away from registered ones. In the list of facts the most interesting is that out of total rapes 98.2% of rapes are committed by the people known to the sufferers. This thing indicate that a girl is not safe even in her home, in her on society.  I have a question that why India suffers such a high numbers of rapes ?
Actually this is not only my question. This question is asked by every responsible citizen including women, youth, socialist of our country & now this question has also found popularity on international level as we had seen that America has shown its concern on rapes in UP.

Apart from all the crimes that a women suffers like dowry, domestic violence, human trafficking, sexual assault & abuse, violence at workplace, inequality in society, rapes  are most absurd because it is a crime related to the honour of a women in society & only a women knows how difficult it is to live in a society where she has no respect. Not only this people also raises question on her character, they make inappropriate comments like might be she refused or opposed but she intended’.  In this whole the question remains same WHY…..?
Answers to this questions are gain some more questions. Do we blame on fashion which is now influenced by western culture or we should blame on our securities which are not up to mark, it might also possible that rapist don’t have fear of being punished since Indian judicial process is too slow with may loose holes or it seems like men shows their power that they are ‘men’.  Some people also says that it is the effect of ‘Dirty pictures’ ads etc. some advocates on alcohol & some says it’s the frustration that men put on women. From this another question arises “does women is only a sex object” ?  Do we are so incapable that we can’t even protect our own girl child, sister, mother…..? Why can’t we have an environment where a woman can feel free, happy & safe .

If we will go through the reasons then we will find a lot of them like:
>> Recent rapes taken place when girls/ women went to attend nature’s call. Recent census also shows that in India about half of the households don’t have toilets at their home. Women has to go in open to relieve & at this time they become easy pray of man. According to a survey report every 3rd girl is assaulted while they go for open defecation. This problem is straight forward & if we can somehow have toilets in home then we can reduce such crimes & save our girls to some extent. Our new PM Mr. Narendra Modi is also concerned about it & we had heard him saying “toilets first temple last”.
>> Illiteracy & lacking morals: illiteracy is root of almost all the problems that India faces like population, corruption, poverty. An illiterate person has backward mindset. They still thinks that women are their puppets. There is a great need to make them educate, to add ‘morals’ in their values. Boys should be taught about the respect that a women deserves from school itself because if we can teach technical knowledge then we can also make them aware about a big social issue. On the other hand girls should be taught self defence & how to overcome such situation. This should be made compulsory since the situation seems to be hazardous.

>>Slow judicial process:  we all know that if a case has been started in Indian court then it is copper-bottomed that the case will be perpetual. Over 24,000 rape cases are pending in High courts only & thousands in other courts. Judicial reforms is must if we have to reduce rape cases. Not only fast track courts but harsh punishment is required to make impact of Indian judiciary on criminals.

>> Police reforms: This is most critical in my view. When any crime took place it is police station where people should go & complaint without hesitation, but in India going police station is menace. Women are feared of getting raped again not physically but mentally. This should be changed. Strictness in police job is must but it should not be with the victim.

If we will keep finding then we will get hundreds of reasons  along with solution “par kya bina soch badle bina niyat badle kuch bdla ja skta hai”. World is changing, time is changing but the thing need change is “attitude towards feminine”. You can’t place cameras everywhere & get the thing monitor it will lead more problems also you cannot have security guards in the whole country at every place but you can change “yourself”…..you can change your thoughts….your attitude towards women & this is the only easy way. I am not saying that only India faces this problem in fact U.S. is on top but ‘women is only worshipped in India not in U.S.’.
